What kind of books do you sell? I sell used books, blu-ray and DVDs along with a smattering of collectibles. All of the items are either from my own private collection or purchased second-hand and re-purposed for Grove Used Books. Use the category list to find stuff you are interested in. My focus is on genre fiction, literature, and unusual items for the high and low brows of my customers.
Do you buy books through the site? Without being able to actually see and handle the books being offered, I can't purchase books being offered for sale. And given the covid epidemic is still active, I won't be able to come to any local sources (Los Angeles) for a buying trip. Try your local used bookstore or sell them on eBay.
What if I don't find the book I'm looking for? I hope to have approximately 500 books for sale at Grove Used Books, so you may not find what you are looking for. If you need help, contact me via the contact tab at the top of the page and I'll do a search for you. I can't do more than a few books per request, so only note 2 or 3 books if you have a list. If I find the book(s) and you want me to order them for you, I charge $5 per book to dropship.
Are you firm on your prices? Yes, I price on the low end of the market and won't change my prices. Please don't haggle.
What about shipping for a book I want to order? I ship Media mail only to addresses in the United States. Larger books will be shipped in a box. Smaller books will be shipped in a padded mailer. Media mail takes 3-6 days to arrive, but on rare occasions they can take up to 30 days. I plan on adding Priority Mail in the near future.
I do not ship books internationally, although I hope to add that feature at some point. International shipping fees and the possibilities of lost books are just too great. I pack my books well either in padded envelopes or cardboard boxes. I ship usually within 24 hours of your purchase. On weekends it can take two or three days.
What if I want to return a purchase? I accept returns 10 days from your receipt of the book or item. Your return reason must be legitimate. "I don't like the book" or "I don't need it anymore" are not acceptable reasons to return your book. If a book is damaged in shipping, please contact me and I'll work something out with you. If I make a mistake on a product description or details, I will accept returns and offer a full refund within the 10 day period.
What about taxes? Taxes are handled via Big Cartel where my shop is hosted. If taxes is required for the product, they will add the appropriate amounts.
What forms of payment do you accept? Big Cartel offers Paypal and Stripe, which uses your credit card.
